The Bill McMurray Apartment is located in a mature part of town with several amenities within walking distance. For example, it is only a few steps away from College Street, which is lined with food stores, medical offices and clinics, and there is a Tim Hortons only three short blocks away.

Transportation Services

Starting out the front door to the College Street streetcar line, one can go west to Toronto Central Park or go east to either the University Subway route or the Yonge Street Subway route. From there one can travel the world or at least to downtown Toronto cinemas, stores and specialty hospitals and medical facilities.

More Than Your Average Apartment

The Bill McMurray residence is a senior who wants to maintain their independence. Using the Sionito’ more than your average apartment’ model allows seniors to be released from the demand of planning a nutritional menu, going out shopping and bringing the food back, sorting it, shelving it, and then cooking it, doing the pots and dishes. It’s tiring just thinking about it!

Maintaining one’s nutrition out of the way means a senior can now age in place and enjoy each day maintaining good health and retaining their independence. The Sionito senior’s Life-ability Model advocates for seniors growing in independence and staying free of the Nursing Home Model of living.

The residence is an apartment building consisting of 88 apartment units.

Each bachelorette unit is designed for single occupancy with a full 4 piece washroom.

Each unit is furnished with a wall-mounted TV.

The residence, following what we refer to as the Sionito Model, has the following amenity spaces:

1) A recreation room with a pool table, TV and bookshelves.
2) A dining room serving 3 meals per day, 7 days per week.
3) An 8th floor outdoor sitting area.
4) An outdoor patio sitting area.

Using an affordable housing model, the residence has subsidized rents for those who qualify, allowing us to accommodate residents with Senior Citizen pensions.

The residence accommodates various health disabilities, both physical and mental.

The residence is also safe and secure, with a full sprinkler fire system with alarms.

    The residence is ideal for a senior whose mental health challenge or physical condition is reducing their ability to design a nutritious diet, shop for food, bring it home, prepare it, and clean up after the meal. The dining room amenity allows them to focus on the Active Daily Living requirements of independently ageing in place.

    In order to qualify for accommodations, most residents require a formal relationship with a community-based caseworker. The Administrator works with the caseworker to determine the number and kind of support needed from the community to retain the tenant’s independence.

    Applicants will be required to be fully vaccinated.
