Housing is recognized in research as a determinant of mental health, and in terms of the Sionito Model, it is the determinant of independent life-ability.

Beyond this, Sionito understands that housing is a right of citizenship within almost all human rights frameworks, and governments are ethically required to have an equitable housing policy. There should be zero tolerance for homelessness.

The Sionito Model Affirms Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is the modern expression of the human spirit. In a tri-sector economy, the word best describing passionate endeavours of mission and enterprise is entrepreneurship. “Social Entrepreneurship strives to combine the heart of business with the heart of the community through the creativity of the individual.” (University of Alberta) Ethical investments with “greening” or social development objectives combined with a reasonable financial return are now being included in the portfolios of large corporations. These are excellent partners for affordable housing projects.

It will emerge when our tri-sector society of
1) governments
2) private corporations
3) private non-profit corporations, all partner together to take advantage of

1. the energized enterprise of the private sector
2. the mission zeal of the charitable sector
3. the citizen well-being responsibilities of the government sector.

The goal of a more civil society is increased citizen life-ability.

The need for the concept of citizen independence to be married with the concept of civility has never been more evident than in the July 20th, 2021 announcement that the International Olympic Committee has added a significant word to its motto expressing it now as “faster, higher, stronger – together.”

The more civil society is contending against individual self-interest and disinterest manifested societally by the intolerance of bad people and the indifference of good people. In the private non-profit sector, the mission is more than a mission statement; the mission owns the Corporation.

Sionito, in its most recent projects, is expanding its business plan to include environmental sustainability outputs in all of its buildings.
